My brother just ordered this for me:

From America. It was around ?30, which is better than the silly ?50 prices I'd seen in most UK shops. It was the proper version that can be used in the UK. How long does it normally take ordering stuff from America? I don't know what kind of postage he used, USPS insured or something. I'm stoked, I can finally throw away all my old jury-rigged Zoom and Boss power supplies that I keep nearly electrocuting myself on and blowing up my pedals with.

I have one of those. Works great actually. Awesome deal for the money with all those adapters.

Yeah, they even have a 9v-12v converter, too. It's small, has a high power-rating, and almost every single adaptor cable you'd ever need is available. Seems an awesome deal to me. This is the only gripe I've ever had when playing some kind of set. I used to play gigs with my old band, but because I'd never splash out on a decent power system (partly because they were all pretty shit back then), I'd have to kneel down and pull out the power cables and patch leads to plug in the effects I was using for the next song. Pretty stupid.

I would have preferred to have just been given the money coz I'm so poor, but I actually need this so I'll just have to grin and bear the curse of material gifts.

I've got the UK version, it's great. Delivery from America should take 5-10 days usually, but sometimes customs take your packages and fuck you about for weeks.

Should be yours in about a week.

Shit, I never thought about that. Do they make you pay customs and shit on it?

thats a nice bit of kit - i might have to get one.

currently my pedal power is just a wall brick thing rated 1000ma, with daisy chain leads.

1000ma should be enough, but apparently my Zoom Ultrafuzz is 300ma?! and i have a few multeffects that are 300ma too.

oh and dont worry about custom charges..VERY unlikely.

I think I must have been unlucky. I've been busted with custom charges everytime I've imported something.

They kill you on the handling fee which is quite often more than the VAT.

Only if it's over a certain amount, when I ordered mine I didn't have to pay customs on it, if the seller sends it as a gift or underestimates the value of it that bypasses it too. You should be fine :)

I think there's a good chance you will  It is a gift, so whoever's sending it should send it as a 'Gift' but I'm not sure whether that will get you any exemption, my friend had to pay duties on a Strat he bought from the USA which was sent as a 'gift'.

What if it's sent as a really low value? If I end up paying like 70 quid for it, it'll kinda defeat the object

It could work, I guess it depends which officials check it at the end of the day, the problem is a lot of the will instantly think a guitar is worth a lot and sending it as a gift or at low value is a ploy to avoid customs charges.

Well, DGNR8 sent me the serviceman in the biggest box ever, and yet that didn't get any attention at customs. I guess I was lucky, either that or they couldn't be bothered to open the tons of packaging that it was covered in. :D

I guess 70 quid isn't much to pay for a rad Tele that's been around the world made by friends really.. still really annoying though, means I gotta save up for a "gift"!

Seriously dude, just ask DGRN8 what service he used to get it shipped, because like I said there were no charges for me. That might be because we went for the long shipping method in the form of it taking 4-6 weeks to arrive, but it was well worth it.

You'll probably be lucky Andy if it's not shipped in a big guitar shaped box.

I really can't wait to get this power supply. All I need now is a bunch of decent patch cables.
