Yeah I should have thought about the different specs. But my point is that to me it seems like it's more important to shop for specs than for country of origin lately with Fenders. I haven't met a clunker lineup in a long time. I'll gladly play an MIM with the specs I like. It's just that they rarely have my preferred specs.

Or better, can you tell the difference between a Classic Series 60s MIM Strat, a Japanese 60s RI Strat, and an American 60s RI Strat? I really can't.

Sonically i think you would struggle between some models, but with feel it would be easier.

Like i said, im not snobby about this but you get my point about the Fender quote? 60's fenders all came from the same stable and in the case of the 'entry level/student' guitars you were basically buying a no frills Fender that was of the same quality made by the same people.

I think any guitar once properly set up by a skilled and experienced luthier will sound and play pretty good. As long is it is functionally stable that is.

Once a fret level setup is done, wiring checked (and rewired if necessary), intonation, string height, neck adjustment, pickup height adjustment has been done any guitar will sing.

To be honest, my two guitars both cost me €1200 each, my Gibson Firebird was bought new and my Gibson Les Paul was bought used... They both just sounded okay until the above professional set up was done, once the setup was done that sang a glorious tune.

i'm loving the tele thinlines and would like to seek these out to try with a bunch of other new stuff being released by Fender & Squier

Changed my mind: now love the marauder, want the marauder.

at that price I really can't see why I wouldn't want to buy a marauder.

I've been so tempted by it.

I've been trying to decide between it the squier jazzmaster and the tele plus. still can't decide. I'm thinking I'll stay away from the jazzmaster, which is what I was leaning towards because it says it has a satin finish and I HATE those squier satin finishes.

so I'm left with the tele and the marauder.

also, I saw that the marauder was made w/ koto wood, so I though maybe it was made in Korea.

I just talked to a rep from Musiciansfriend and they're saying that these guitars are made in China! maybe someone said that already, but I'll bet there will be rolling off the same line as the classic vibes.

I was wondering if these new classic vibes would be like the old Squiers from Japan. They use the Squier name, then when everyone realizes how nice the guitars are, Fender realizes they can use the Fender name.

Sure looks like a lot of fun, and of course that neck pickup must be a super thumper. Adding a bridge pickup to that funky period-correct pickguard is a great idea, though I'm sad they didn't go all the way like that crazy green custom '72-looking thing that came out a while back...Or at least not make it in sunburst with cheesy white guard.

Definitely the tastier of the two choices on the Tele2 bass. Would kill for the Lotto.
