Damn, that Tele Plus also comes in a tasty trans charcoal. It's CHEAP, classy Pine body, nice finishes, lots of versatility, and probably pretty good quality too. Good one, Fender

Yep, I think the Black and white Marauder will be mine . At $400 that's killer .
Very groovy..

I've held out from posting to properly allow this to ferment in my brain and to check my opinion hasn't changed: The marauder is an amazing combination of boring and ARSE. Really even at that cost there's scores of other guitars far more interesting and cool for that price point. It's like they tried to be different but it's a reeaaaaallllly conservative 'different'.

It's not bad, it's just not exciting, either. My only real issue with it is the upper horn, that just looks out of place there.

I'm just curious . What's not to make it exciting ? Cool shape , cool pickup configuration . Cheesy strat trem. The selector switch ? I'm not huge on them but with some modding ....

Exactly how I feel about it.
"HEY STRAT PLAYERS! WANT A JAGUAR? DON'T WANT IT TO FEEL OR REALLY LOOK LIKE A JAGUAR? WANT IT TO SEEM PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS YOUR STRAT EXCEPT FOR THE PICKUPS WHICH ARE WIIIIILD AND WACKY? GET A MARAUDER! OR KILL YOURSELF!"
It's a guitar that strat players get to stand out from the crowd. Of strat players.

It suffers from PRSitis in that it's precisely ISN'T doing anything other than half-way point and meeting together of famous tropes from three or four fenders with none of the charm of any of them. It looks like a half arsed project design by someone who's just got into offsets and shortscales like (to carry on from where EK left off) " OZMG LIKE I TOOOK THIS STRATT, STUCK A STANG PLATE ON IT, A JAZZY PICKGUARD STYLE AND WAIT WAIT GET THIS! JUST SO NO ONE KNOWS HOW COBBLED TOGETHER THIS 'DESIGN' IS IMMA GONNA THROW EM RIGH OFF THE SCENT BY STICKING A TELE SWITCH ON IT AND STICK HUMBUCKERS IN IT TOOOOO FOR A CHANGE!12!1111!111!!!
Plus it seems to me folks read like they're talking themselves into liking it from this thread...y'know like when we all saw The Phantom Menace and we were like "ummm yeah....yeah it was good. Yes definitely it was good...ummmm lots of umm potential *INSIDE MY SOUL IS DESTROYED*"
I am intrigued as to the Triplebucker malarky of course - what the fuck does it do?

I think the triple bucker is a cool idea; would love to hear one IRL.
the tele is cool because it would be easy to throw a set of lace senors in there and have a tele plus but you could do the same with the blacktop. I think there guitar will probably really nice though, because they're made in China and presumably come off the same line as the classic vibe guitars and if they do, the quality will be great and they'll be worth 400.

Can we actually confirm country of origin? I do not want any of that Mexican jank. If it's from the same bros that did the Classic Vibe series, then it's rad. Pretty sure they caught on to how well the CV's are doing and threw this stuff at em. This is the most interesting Fender series I have seen in years.
Really like the black thinline with p90's. LPB Maurader is great, but i don't want to fuck with a strat trem. Do not want strat jack on the jag, kinda shit.
The tele and jazz bass are killer.

What's up with the Koto wood on the Marauder? Has anyone had any experience with it? What does it sound like?

Like wood with strings attached to it.

I called a dude at musicians friend and he was all like, "it's probably either Korean (which is what I was afraid of when I read koto wood) or Mexican but I can't find out for you, give me one second . . . it's actually made in China!"
so, he seemed to know what he was talking about and his system said it was made in China.

I think Dave, Eric and Pens have said what i've thought and tried to say since this thread began. Having said that, when you look at the bigger picture i've got to admit some of these are way more fun than some of the mundane shit other companies have put out recently. LPB is always welcome as well.
Thought hard about this, out of all the new Fender/Squier stuff i want to love the Jaguar because i like the idea of mahogany/P90 toanz on that shape but the knob placement puts me off and im not sure the mass of wood looks right without all the hardware. Its a good modding guitar though.
If i was to buy any of them it would probably be the Mascis JM, great color scheme, jumbo frets etc and a "i've been listening to Dino since 1988.." nostalgia trip. Yeah, i'm not moving forward anytime too soon then. Thanks Fender.

They're like the Telesonic and Stratsonic of the 90s. LOVED those guitars.
