why stay on the clean ? it's just stupid because the amp can do more than that but in a live situation you can't switch so you're like 'you know, this amp sounds great cranked, but i can't because then i don't have clean sounds, ohwell' ... seems sad.

i don't need four channels, i've my pedalboard to get different sounds but single channel would mean i would always use a pedal for distorted sounds... seems like a waste of amp. i guess it's great when you never play clean or when never played distorted but if you need both.. i dunno, i would find it annoying.

Single channel amps are USELESS for how I play.

We have plenty of songs where I need a Loud Crisp Clean tone I can spank the arse out of without breakup, I also need full on overdrive and crunch and dislike pedals for this purpose at rehearsal and live volumes. The volume knob method is useless to me.

yeah, i think if you can spend thàt much money on an amp just go matamp... that way it's like 100% what you want/need from an amp

why do electric amps only make 120w amps tho ?

I used to be all about 2 channel + amps, then ran across the ampeg which is single channel that takes pedals very well...so I got meself a graphic fuzz, and it sounds great ran through the ampeg, I get the best comments about my "tone" now. (to each his/her own) 8)

4 Channel amps are teh gay.

HA-HA Mike.

JUST KIDDING! ((aug))

I've never been satisfied with pedals for the dirt sounds I like (hello Marshall overdrive) at rehearsal and gig volumes, they never felt thunky and real enough in the "feel" and "response" of my playing. Horses for courses but I can't live with it.

I'm an amp overdrive guy, and I love my cleans. So I need a switcher. I could live with a 2 channel but Marshall make the JVM which I love and it's cheap in this country - so why should I?

As much as I do like the sound of the guitar in that Black Sabbath video, I just find them really, really boring to listen to.

i <3 sabbath and iommi, huge influence

this is one of my favs (along with paranoid, iron man, fairies wear boots and war pigs):

"specs"

50 watts RMS

2 x EL34 output valves.

2 x 12AX& preamp valves

Plexi Glass front panel

Single Channel

Footswitchable master volume (similar to Thunderverb attenuator)

HF Drive control, 3 band EQ and gain

Gold beading as per 70’s amps.

Chassis mounted power valves rather than PCB

The tone of the is quite special… I would describe it as traditional vintage Orange with loads more response and dynamics.

someone here still needs to get one though, i wish they would say where it's gonna be made

That's a great feature that they have included.

tell me what this means.

Built in Power Soak/Attenuator meaning you can push the power stage and the power tubes into saturation (to get fabled power amp overdrive) without blowing your ears off with volume. Basically it sucks up some of the voltage after the fullbore power stage before it gets to the speakers, thus reducing volume but retaining the "on the edge of meltdown" overdrive sound.

Supposedly.

The Thunderverb has got a built in attenuator, which is also footswitchable, so set it a bit below the volume you are playing at and you have a lead volume boost.
At least that's how I understand it.
I guess it's just having 2 volumes you can switch between and you can set them how you like.

Nah, it takes the load from the power stage (output) of the amp where you're talking high voltage and the fact that the power amp needs to "see" a constant impedance.

Normally the attenuator turns the extra energy it sucks off into Heat.

ah ok so it couldn't be used to get almost like 2 channel sounds? like clean/crunch then switch it to distortion?
