What do you mean change the tuning? The low string is a B...?

I feel the same way about 7 string guitars as 5+ string basses

for that low end, I would simply use my BASS VI...

IF I HAD ONE!

Korn tune to open A. Wes Borland tuned to drop D, but down a step and a half i think.

I assume most 7 string owners try these tunings, as it turns their guitars into automatic riff machines. Of course you can have standard tuning with a low B, but unsure on how you would utilize it.

Most 7-string guitarists with own a 7-string because they were influcenced by Limp Bizkit or Korn; Therefore it is likely they would tune the same as those artists. Even if you weren't, it is likely you might try them as pretty much every 7-string players guide mentions them as standard alt tunings.

I was just wondering which tuning purplehaze19x used. Hence why i asked him. Whats your point exactly Mike?

My point is that if you play Korn or Wes Borland music you're a chonst.

I dont care what music he plays, I was just curious about his tuning. Hence why i asked.

I dont really like either band, but i would try both sets of alt tunings, simply for the fact that theyre tried and tested, and by its very nature its a non-standard guitar so there isn't really a "standard" way to play or tune it.

Anyway purplehaze19x's guitar looks way cool, but that one justin posted is rather ugly. man that is one wide fretboard, especially above the 12th fret!

I never said it was pretty lol. I tuned it normal, and had a low B. I thought about tuning it EADGBEA for extra soloz power for maybe 2 seconds. I just didn't like the way the low B clanged, it was too damn low. The lowest I've gone besides that is D, even c# is just doesn't play right to me.

Wow, im not a metaller but thats a sexy piece of guitar.

Whats the tuning on that thing? And how does the wider fretboard feel - is it very noticable?
ADGCFAD ..yes the wider neck is noticeable, i play mostly Mustangs, so when i pick this thing up its a HUGE difference

I'd be interested in a 7-string archtop or something that was reasonable for clean playing - all the 7-strings I've seen are pointy and metally, though.

It would probably work well for solo music.

Similarly, if you reject seven-string guitars (and alternate tunings thereon) on the basis that they were used by Korn and Wes Borlan, then you're a bit of a chonst too, really.

i keep mine in open A for heavy ass shit
its not that bad to play, just a wider fret board
i mainly play the top 6 strings as usual, and just use the 7th as a bassy punch

well actually its more like a round-house kick to the face

Nah. Go and stand with that 5-string bass player like the freak you are.

Actually, for some reason I still really hate five string basses, despite liking seven string gutars.

Bit of a dichotomy, me.

What a second, not, I'm just a dick.
