I know, why would you ever spend $2.50 on a something that makes a task take half as much time. Also if you have an acoustic they're great for pulling out string pegs with out fucking them up

Why would you want to halve the time it takes to string up a guitar (and I'm not sure I spend half my time winding up the strings, if you wind them around the pegs correctly you have to take out minimum slack)?

I enjoy stringing and sprucing up my guitar, I finad it relaxing.

well working in a guitar shop I has to make it quick, but I don't actually own one at home so I actually kinda agree. just another thing to loose

In fairness, this fella's posting has been fine. It's not as if he's been running around the place posting shite in dead threads. I think we're maybe a bit paranoid following that nsv ballbag.

Although, I reckon for the sake of getting on with the board, Chris ought to leave it a while before posting in the classifieds. If he goes in straight away, it'll confrim people's suspcions. Leave it for a month or two.

+1, i enjoy taking me time to do it.

plus i used to do it fast and being the twat i am every other restring i'd do something very wrong like put the wrong string on the wrong peg or wind it backwards.

when my ibanez took a floor dive i was in the process of changing strings and the dive took out one of the machine heads i decided to string it up anyway while i waited for the new tuners (it was me only electric at the time so it was that or nothing) and i was so preoccupied with the broken tuner business that i managed to tune the d string one octave higher than normal.

it EXPLODED, i've never heard a string sound like a gunshot before or since.

Flooding the board with posts to get into Classifies wins noone friends.

You only really need about 3 turns to keep a string in tune. Maybe a bit more for the high e. I find I don't need a string winder to get a string wound quickly.

Like I said, if you need one, you're stringing the guitar wrong. You cut to the right length and make the right number of wraps and the winding is arbirary.

Now I'm loathe to post in my own thread which was created to say fuck off with all the what's the best threads, but: I do use a string winder. Firstly because it makes those few turns on the peg smooth and regular, which helps with your tuning a smidge if you use the trem a lot, and secondly because I've got big sausage fingers and end up detuning all the other machine heads and clouting my knuckles if I don't use it.

Also, I reckon that Chris Brighton fella's OK really. Let's be nice to noobs, but keep a wind eye on the classifieds, as we say at sea.

I'm not being un-nice. It's good to have new people around. I'm just saying don't flood the forum with posts to get into Classifieds, it's hardly like it's a utopia of BRO DEALS anyway.
