One of my fave local guitar shops had a "damaged" AVRI Jazzmaster in a few months ago. Basically it had a tiny chip in the finish. To be honest if the guy in the shop hadn't pointed it out I never would have noticed. Good seller = happy purchase.
As far as there serial #s go a lot of ebay sellers won't show the real/whole serial in the auctions cos there's a lot of fakers out there. Hence you'll see things like 70s Musicmaster serial #S754***

Used could mean any of the following:
Demo item,
Shop soiled,
chipped/damaged/second
With Japanese Fenders the aftermarket is somewhat different, if it falls into any of the above catagories and it's being sold through a reputable dealer it'll have "used" stamped on it (usually on the back of the headstock). Fender and all the other companies don't bin the slightly imperfect items . They sell them in the same way but at a discouted. Just like the Jazzzmaster I spoke about earlier.
If in doubt ask the ebay seller.

if the seller is fine selling to someone with only a handful of posts then why not? plus i can't see letsgocoyote being as horribly blunt as that.
if i remember correctly the post count thing was added after a few of people lost money/gear to a shady poster. it's just a precaution so people can get a feel for the community or to stop people just coming here to try and fuck people over.

against people who come here looking for something specific, and then try to contact someone about an item they have for sale, but don't have access to the classifieds.
noirie told him to pm LGC about it, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a 50 post min for classifieds.
just saying i wouldn't be surprised.

Actually I don't type in all caps. And I didn't know it was suggested I message him on Shortscale. I messaged him on ebay. Can't imagine that's against the rules....

that's how i imagine you'd reply to a classifieds post.
it's not your decision, it's not noirie's decision, it's letsgocoyote's. if he's fine selling to someone new then what's wrong with that? i will remind you the classifieds haven't been locked for that long and we did just fine beforehand. i think i wasn't that far over 50 posts when i boughy cowys jazzblaster. you can quite often tell when someone's an idiot and when someone's not.
which is why i'd never sell anything to you.
you can already tell this person isn't an idiot, that's obvious from his first few posts. if he posted a topic like HAI GYZ WHERE KAN I DO AN MSTNG? DO IT HAV AN HAMBOCKER? then there'd be a bit of a red flag.
he didn't come here trying to buy, he came here for information and someone suggested a guitar in the classifieds 'cause it would be a better deal than what he's looking at. stop trying to make it into something it isn't,
