How'd it go?

I'll take some more pictures tomorrow in the sun.

The headstock decal is almost completely scratched off, the knobs aren't original and it's refined.
There is a dime sized chip in the pickguard right in front of the trussrod.

LOL either the bridge is backwards or the one on my 69RI is.

The tuners work great, the switches slide nicely the neck feels AMAZING. I haven't really gotten a chance to test out how it sounds since the strings aren't on correctly (aren't wrapped around the trem) and the set up is terrible, but it plays smooth as butter, as far as I can tell. Smaller and faster than my 69RI. It's also considerably lighter. There is very little fret wear.

There aren't too many nicks and dings, and none that go through the finish, although there are probably some underneath the refin, but nothing serious. The finish on the neck is worn very nicely where open chords are played.

The case is in pretty good condition. The fuzzy crap inside is coming off on one section, but besides that it's more or less in great shape. The latches both work.

I think... there is something rolling around in the trem cavity...

Probably a spring. They lose their tension over the years, you may have to set them on the second notch of the lipstick tube posts to keep them in place.

Hm. It has klusons, which imply it's a 64 according to this http://fendermustangstory.com/default.htm#1964

But it also has a F-stamped serial neckplate, which would denote 65/66 .

Unless of course they used leftover stock or something or another isn't original.



I didn't check the pots or neck for a date before I took it to the shop to get set up, so I'll have to wonder about the age until I get it back.

The dude at the store seemed to think it was late 70's, which made me worry about the age, but I think he's somewhat misinformed.

It's not that weird for the bridge to be backwards, the saddles are the same in both directions and it's probably easier to slip a screwdriver in there than between the tailpiece and bridge.

Anyway yeah... do I even need to say nice score?

The woman at the gas station had moustache. Honest to god. The guy lived with his very pregnant girlfriend down a gravel road in a ravine surrounded by farmland. It was very Deliverance-esque. Especially for a couple city boys with Jersey plates.
