What is this '66RI you speak of anyway? I thought the only '66 RIs were the ones like mine or the recent imports, which are like mine (B&B) but without matching headstcok.

Didn't you just say you had one?
It's a Japanese model.

I'm doing my best not to rise to your deliberate mis-jobbing of me.
As I understand it, the names of the Japanese Jags, such as JG66, don't actually denote that it's a reissue of that particular year's model, it's more just a nice sounding number: the Japanese models are a sort of 'greatest hits' of all the various years Jags' features.
Glad yours is all correct under the hood Mike.

Yeah, it's this. They are Tarantino-esque "homages" to the various phases of Jaguar evolution. Same with the Mustangs.
It's old as shit under there, nothing has been touched, Jags are tricky as fuck with the plates, pickguard, pickups and that shielding plate under the guard to manage.
It looks to be like absolutely noone has been under there with any purpose other than to check it's all as it should be. I saw some numbers I think on one of the pickups and I think it was 64 so they might be even older than the rest of the guitar. One day I'll take it all off again but I'm in no hurry, it's a massive pain the arse.
LOVE THIS GUITAR SO MUCH.
Massive apologies to Pat for the hijack, think we should split?

I think it seems more like they'll keep it pretty accurate to the year in Japan, but by the time they make it over as an official import they'll have been told to change things which makes them completely wonky as far as period correctness goes. On mine the only thing that's not period correct is the decal.

this one.
the auction is still up, but unfortunately doesn't give pics of the rear of the headstock. i will snap a pic of mine when i get home. i guess i assumed it was a 66RI as that's what the auction was listed as. i presume now that it's a 62RI?
WAT DOES THIS MEEN?

actually, no you don't have to. on a jaguar and jazzmaster you can just pop the pickups out without removing the guard.
Unless Aen and Robert Original wired it up. Then you have to get a construciton permit from city hall to get in it.

pardon the missing lil' e tuner, it was bent when i got it (to the sellers surprise), and i'm not sure which set to buy from gfs.
anyone have any clues as to what RI this is?

Looks like '62RI but bodyshots would help confirm. Actually I remember it, it's the one with the stupidly red pickguard? Think it's just an older '62RI. Serial?
Pat mine is a 142682 serial and yours is 12... which Feb'66 which would suggest mine is later even though the guy thought the neck was defintely JAN/FEB '66. I'll have to check at some point.
This is all dead interesting stuff to research and learn.

i could've sworn both the japanese jags i've owned were '62 reissues, but they both had JG66 stamped on the neck heel.

This is the 66 B&B. It has Klusons which is wrong. Jags had F tuners this year.

i'd like to emphasize to the listener's those are your words, not mine. but yeah, i replied to gavin up above, and there's a link to the auction in the thread.
i admit, the red is loud, but unfortunately, makes no difference whilst playing. kinda like crooked body-through ferrule holes...

Is that a jibe at the Duo-Sonic body Robert made for me? Classy.
The auction doesn't contain the serial number.
