yeah it's done. Unfortunately the neck is wrecked on that thing. It frets out in the middle 5 frets. Truss and action adjusted as much as possible and issue prevails. Being a plywood POS it's really not worth any more effort or money, so I'm mounting it on the wall next to my staircase. I also effed the electronics somehow, but there's no point in futzing with it since the neck is unplayable. Sucks because I finishes that fucker smooth as hell. Would have been a pretty sweet player.

i'd like to see squire follow up on the classic vibe duo sonic with some sort of squire mustang. just so we have something fun to destroy and bend to our will. this way we dont feel guilty when we start sanding...

I just don't see that happening. it would be too much of an investment to fix up a squier factory with all the proper tooling and everything to build mustangs. that's why you rarely see "different" looking guitars in the budget price range. it's not really cost effective to use all this different hardware. that's why they had the cyclone and jagmaster with the strat bridge.

Yeah, that and th fact that most people are boring. If you tried to sell a Mustang type guitar with a funny trem etc, people would probably be put off by the unfamiliarity.

I think the logical step for that CV line is 60's style 24" student model. Whatever they want to name it. It would have a rosewood board, colors would be blue/white/red or whatever and it would have simple non trem bridge. That way it wouldn't compete directly with the MIJ Mustangs but would expand the line.
Or even do a CV Jag-stang for $350 or less new. It's already a classic in it's own right love it or hate it and Fender only makes them off and on. They could finally do some new colors too.
The CV line is a really good value they should keep adding models to it.

That association could be true. Fernandes have been making an offset with 2 p-90s for years that is very similar
