You know, I think I've essentially had it proven to me that Fender just designs better guitars. I have a Gibby Les Paul. And I loved it. Right up until I got my Squier M-80. That guitar is every bit the rock powerhouse that the gibby is at a fraction of the weight with a neck that is literally to die for. Fender sealed the deal for me with that guitar. I haven't picked the Gibby up since I got it, and it cost a fraction of the gibby. People who say Fender doesn't know how to make a RAWK guitar and kiss my grits. I'll probably end up with toronado as a backup since I doubt I'm likely to ever find another M-80.
gonna have to agree with this. i couldn't give 2 shits about who was installing humbuckers or toms first. . . my toronado was more comfortable, sounded better, and played nicer than any gibson guitar i've ever played, right out of the box. i've played v's, explorers, les pauls, etc, and the tones were always muddy until i went through a lot of work. i'm not knocking them as guitars, but they were never my thing, but my toronado was my main axe for 3 years. i miss it a lot, though i've never cared much for the gt models or the ones with the "classic" bridge on them. all the stripes and massive pickguards just add up to clunkiness for me, but i'd rock one of those over a gibson any day.

Beat up? I like the sound of that. See if he's interested in passing it on.

This is the difference between the Mexican ones and the American ones isn't it? It seems like this period (early 00's) Fender was releasing a couple of offsets/alternative guitars and naming them confusingly. It's got similar naming problems to the Cyclone.

I love the American ones. What's under the guard of the Mexican ones? Is it a swimming pool route?

Mrs. Keitel has a big mouth.

Bear in mind, the les paul is on it's way out. I tried... but as it turns out I'm a Fender guy the whole way through.

Stock Duncans only on the GTz. The USA model had 'Doves', i think thats what Dots owned.
The early models had chrome covered 'buckers.

Pearly Gates/'59 PAF. Awesome sound, its more like a good Gibson S.G. than your typical Fender.

I love the original Deluxe series Toronados. I like all the other versions too, but I fantasize about having an original and putting Wide Range humbuckers in it.
