Quoted for truth, seriously.
eh, fuck it. The laws against SS marriage are outrageous - in WI, people can even be fined or imprisoned for leaving the state to get a SS marriage. It's unconstitutional and unethical to ban it.

BUT. There are zero protests. NONE. Every once in a blue moon some peeps will fill up the capitol loop in Madison, but those are always small events and it's been years since the last one. Except for the yearly pride fest, which is more of an orderly parade than a protest, you never hear a peep about overturning the law. No boycotts, no protests, no civil disobedience, NOTHING. I know plenty of gay peeps and they all want the laws changed, but they never do a damn thing about it. It's not a war, or even a struggle, because they don't fight back. I don't get it.

Nothing I could possibly do, least of all buying some guitar, would be as damaging to the gay rights movement as the massive inaction on the part of the oppressed.

If I buy a guitar it's because I like the guitar, not because I hate gay peeps.

so what if they did act for their cause? would you not give money to people who act against their cause then? because the people in california were acting for their cause. a bunch of people from outside the state made it their business to act against them. that's what you're talking about supporting.

getting off the gay topic....

For those complaining that the price is too high for value, all I can say is Danelectro has done wonders to keep the value of their guitars down be reissuing their most popular models with so little change every few years or so. What they make is something that has its own sound, feel, and look that nobody else really makes aside from jerry jones and a few high end custom makers. They are a name brand like Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Gretsch, etc, and they could easily push the value of their guitars up past the budget level if they wanted to, even if they were still plywood and plastic. They are playable, durable guitars that require very little to no modification to play out and record with, and the reissues are either equal or superior to their vintage counterparts.

Having said that, always rest assured that whenever dano comes out with a slightly uglier queer-hating-er version of one of their guitars, buying a used 90s/early 00's reissue on ebay with a clear conscience will still run you about $100 less than the new ones go for street price.

Danelectro guitars have always been some of my favorites, the old ones and the re-issues. I also think what's his face actually makes really cool stuff(guitars and pedals), knows how to give great value and reasonably good quality for the low price, that's why the bigotry is SO DISAPPOINTING.

What danos have you played? Every single one I've touched has been amazing. The two I own included.

Dig those blue sparkles. I had one of those 12-strings for a few months. Sadly I just couldn't find a use for it. Great sound, playability and build quality though.

What's the dano/anit-gay link? I think I've missed it. Shame then.

The guy who has owned the Danelectro name since the 90s donated a bunch of money to ban gay marriage in California, so now we can never buy anything made by Danelectro again.

Sort of like how the guy who invented the transistor believed in sterilizing black people to make them extinct, so now we can't use anything that has transistors in it.

And, of course, no Volkswagens either.

Except that Hitler doesn't own Volkswagen anymore. So that's not a problem for most people.

Is the transistor guy dead too?

A rule I've learned to live by, which has helped me out a lot and is worth quoting here: after a while, it's not worth arguing with stupid people; they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

60% of Americans vote against gay people getting married. Odds are absolutely anything you buy in this country directly benefits/funds someone who's against gay marriage. The only difference with Dano is that we know about it, but we could infer it about every other company. Boycotting one is arbitrary, pointless, and useless.

To quote that dude from Clerks 2:
"Babe, you can't taste racism!"
