nah, nothing like that. the Vintage brand seems like the closest approximation. a junior or melody maker style would be great but i can't find anything. think the weight of a les paul is putting me off the gold top

Maybe look for a used one like this:

I think Wilkinson discontinued them but I've seen a couple online.

also checking out the mick abraham model you posted one the previous page. i really like vintage. i have a v300 acoustic and its so good for the price. if i had to be honest though, don't like the neck heaviness of sgs, which is kind of deal breaker.

indeed, there are some youtube videos but its just chancers playing cock rock power chordy riffs into a bad mic

it comes down to: take a blind chance on a light bodied harley benton for £111, or spend £209 on a Vintage which will no doubt be great for the price and kitted out with wilkinson parts, but way heavier. i mean, im sure the HB is great for the price but £110 implies a different level of expectation

my instincts are saying go for the Vintage

YOUR INSTINCTS SERVE YOU WELL, GEORGE.

I would suggest you GO TO A GUITAR SHOP and try some out. There's bound to be a few different types, plus you can top up with GUITAR SHOP RAGE.

Also, pretty sure Jazzmasters have two P90 pickups.

ha

yeah can't wait for them to not have the guitars i'm interested in and then say "yeah really good one that" when i pick anything up. and then comes the enjoyment of playing through some terrible amp that is nothing like the sound i like.

can't hurt to have a butchers at whatever p90 offerings they have i suppose.

A you sure the HB is basswood? I saw another HB LP with these specs:

Construction - Long Tenon Set Neck
Body - 2-Piece Mahogany,
Neck - Mahogany, Rosewood Fretword with Trapezoid Inlay
Pickup - vintage Voice Humbuckers
Controls - 2 Volume, 2 Tone, 3-Way Switch
Machine Head - Vintage Tulip

the gold tops seem to be basswood. I dunno, mixed feelings still. The vintage just seems way more worth it

Some of the Vintage stuff plays really nice, well worth try.
Squier Tele Custom II's are superb value for money. If you were happy going for 1 x P90 the Sheridan LP Juniors are worth a look, Nick D has one, really nice build quality and a classic design.

yeah it looks fantastic but i don't really trust the youtube video quality. have you got a thread of his review? id like to read it!

the general reviews, which are sparse, say "nice but shitty pickups". i think the vintage v100gt will be a better fit, but heavier as it's mahogany through and through and with better pickups

it sucks not being able to try them out lol

How much does the Vintage cost?I didn't see the P-90 version in the Thomann catalog.

"Vintage" is a british brand. lots of places over here in the uk sell them. it costs £209. all the hardware is Wilkinson too. the companies have joined forces

back in the local music scene when i was a teenager i think most bands had at least one Vintage sg. they were cheap and good for the money. watch some of the videos for "vintage v100 goldtop/GT". they sound pretty great
