i still have this in my house at the moment, it's kay's brothers that i was repairing for him. needs a new bridge volume pot. it's the bolt on version. sounds fucking amazing. always wanted to bust out cigarettes and alcohol on it when i pick it up. i could see if he wants to part with it.

gaaaa! proggie i missed your post about the vintage gold top.
to update everyone on my travels: i bought a vintage gold top from a well known retailer and it was absolute pony. dirty, grubby, screw missing, scratches on the back and binding. real horror show. they are sending a courier to fetch it for a refund. the retailer seemed to blame this on vintage themselves, however this would be completely at odds with my experiences of the brand. i suspect it was roughed up ex-demo stock
anyway...
the quest continues, and i'm still very much moving away from the fender style and am after a flatter radius, 24.75" gibson type model so the tele is not really for me. i may have a punt at another vintage v100 gold top, but what caught my eye was this...
which i would couple with a set of rose pickup humbucker sized p90s . i've sent ken an email to ask if he could do me a slightly chirpier and janglier set of p90s.
what i would like to know is, what is shortscale's experience with the maestro vibrola type tremolos? are they serviceable for light use, and can they handle alt tunings? they seem somewhat similar to jag tremolos which handle different tuning fine

yeah buddy. apparently the bridge pickup is really powerful too if that interests you. i'm gonna scour youtube tonight. i just want more confirmation about that trems fitness for purpose

I really like the maestro vibrola I had on an epiphone sg, the only problem was that it developed burrs which would snap strings at the ball ends, was really annoying. The only solution I found was to slip an extra ball end over the string to move it away from the sharp edge. Still was quite annoying.
I guess it just depends on what material that bridge is made from as I assume the epiphone bridge was obviously made from some kind of soft metal.

the mustang and jag trems i've owned have been able to move from standard to open G (low E unchanged) and drop D while staying almost completely in tune. i mean is it as bad as something like a floating strat trem or floyd where it's all synchronized?
