sure is, and it's $2400 at my local shop that refuse to budge on price because they suck. if i some how came into that much expendible money i would consider it because it is a handwired ac30 with warranty, something i hear they need.Mike wrote:Them's is Matt Goods, right?finboy wrote:new vox ac30 handwired (overpriced though, 2 grand for MIC amp that is still partially PCB)

how you getting on with it? think mine's used for 95% of a gig. i flip between the rock and rawk setting for the song or even mid song.lamp wrote:Progrockabuse wrote:just noticed lamps signature. dam right brother
I tried that and the 35w. They're fairly similar, after a bit of umming and ahhing I went with the 35w. The 20w would have probably covered my needs fine but the 35w was a bit nicer in the low end (possibly due to the larger speaker, I don't know anything about the internal workings). It's a little bit of a needless purchase but will probably save me some money in tubes and encourage me to play with an amp more often which are both good things.James wrote:I'm considering getting one of these.
Orangew 20w solid state bass amp. They're £99 rrp and there's one reduced to £79 in a local shop. I currently have a bassman and a vibrochamp. The bass channel on the bassman is superb for bass, the guitar channel is pretty much my perfect guitar amp (would like reverb on the cleans but I'll get a pedal for that) but I only turn the bassman on about twice a week as it's so loud. The vibro champ is a great low volume guitar amp but useless for bass. I've been using it so far but I would like a small solid state bass amp for day to day use.
I was looking at these online last night and realised that £79 new is a good price. I'll go watch some youtube videos now and possibly pick one up tomorrow if the shop still has any.
In that new Quays building. Music Trade Oulet I think it's called. They have some of the non-Japanese Tokai stuff. I tried the amp out with a MIM Burgundy Mist Jazz Bass with matching headstock. The 'offest sontour body' part of the decal was straight after the 'jazz bass' part for some reason. I think it must have been the equivilant of one of those classic 60s strats or whatever, the neck was soaked in gloss and not that nice.benecol wrote:But-but-but... where is this new shop you're on about?
There might be no need to be. It looks like it'll be going back. Its crackling like a bastard even with nothing plugged in. I didn't notice anything at first but it's quite bad now. It sounds a bit similar to a scratchy cable or interferance on an old radio. I just tried it in different rooms around the house and it's no different. Could it be a not broken in speaker? I don't think it would be but it's the only thing I can think of that would mean it's not spannered. It's not the one I played in the shop but one they had boxed up in the store room.Mike wrote:Very cool, it looks lush. I'm mildly jealous.

Boo urns. Will likely take it back on Saturday.
