I guess it'll look like this.
They all did, so far.
One of the most pale necks I ever saw with Fender/Squier.

Their Jazzmasters come in several different trimmings, all of seemingly very good quality and close-to-vintage specs, whereas we're limited to models separated more by budget and features than by cosmetic variety.
I wish that Fender USA would realize there is a market for this type of variety stateside.

Yeah, I think the point is, the market is there in Japan, not so much in America and elsewhere. Fender isn't dumb. It's a corporation. It's there to make money. The reason why they don't have these things elsewhere is because for whatever reason, it's just not profitable for them to do so, not because they hate guitarists. Sure, there is a market for the stuff, but there is a cost associated with having many different models around, as car companies have found out.
There is a market for fancy Mustangs, and I think dkoor is right when he says they're all here. I mean, let's not kid ourselves. You've posted on other guitar forums, I'm sure. How many people GAS for a Mustang? The Mustang is just not that respected of a guitar outside the shortscale crowd. Having five different models of Mustangs in America would be dumb when the one they have, the excellent '65 RI, has trouble selling, so much that they resell for so little money. Americans largely want black and sunburst Strats and Teles. That's the stuff that sells because only rich people can afford lots of new guitars anyway, and rich people generally want something iconic, i.e. a Strat.

So where do they make these if not in Japan? The real question is where do they KEEP all these things? It must be wall to wall string over thar. I like some of those pickup choices too. The shame is that Fender never did this 40 years ago.

that's all fair enough, except fender shut down direct exports from japan, so if you want one of what's been posted in this thread you have to pay through the nose for it. it used to be that you could just order from ikebe for a reasonable price. that's the most annoying part.

yeah agreed. also keep in mind that fender japan is essentially a separately operating company than fender USA. so they are not really operating in some grand international scheme. fender USA competes with fender japan all the time. notice that there are japanese websites for both fender japan and the US fender. so they are not just creating products for their particular market as much as they are separately pursuing different product strategies. and in that respect I have to praise fender japan in offering a vastly more interesting line of products.

I saw that fernandes the other day.. awful. Yes those are L.E.Ds by the neck, that's what the electronics are for. They are nothing to do with the sound/pickup circuit. Looks truly ridiculous.

Like Fender just couldn't charge reasonable shipping from Japan? How hard is that? I wanted a Duo Sonic but was put off having to refin that band aid look.
