I know - but I love those speakers. Hard to resist.

If anyone needs transformers they have a fantastic set of discounts on them.

I'm not going to do this - but out of curiosity Mike, in my 2x12 could I swap out one of the Vintage 30s for a G12H-30?
Or rather, what power would the cab be able to take seeing as one speaker is 30W and one is 60W?

It's additive in series or parallel so you'd still be safe to run your amp - 60 + 30 = 90W so just don't dime the amp (i'm sure you can't physically anyway and you'll be ok)

I'm entertaining getting a couple to put in my 2x12", if I love them then awesome, but I could also put them in X pattern in my 4x12". Even though putting both into my 2x12" would mean it can only handle 60W it's not like I'm ever putting that out on my amp anyway, I'd be deaf. 60W is only a couple of dB lower than 100W.

I really want G12-65's which are higher power greenbacks suitable for 2x12"s but they're so goddamn expensive.

Cool - that's what I thought.
Like you said - I never dime my amp anyway! Played a gig last night, and the guitars were unmiked, small/medium sized venue, and I only had the volume up at half way.

Tempted to get one to put into my old Marshall combo to turn that into a 1x12 cab...

That would be a swanky idea... do you have the Rockerverb 100 or 50?

At gigs we have to be playing loud for me to get to "5" on my JVM Master Volume, and then the Channel Volumes are between midnight and 2 o clock.

I'm trying to just ignore these speakers, but half price is pretty amazing.

It's the Rockerverb 50, so there's no problem there at all.
I guess the actual difference in volume between a 50W and 100W head is farily small.
But yeah, half price is a very good offer...

it's 3dB.

I just had a look on ebay and there's a few shops on there selling G12H-30s for £31 plus £9 shipping or £12 for two or more speakers.

Watford Valves sale is £28 per speaker plus "At least £5 +VAT shipping". I can't find out how much it would cost to get the speakers through them without actually buying them which is lame. Anyway the ebay new price isn't that different - I think I'll wait for my MDX to sell first.

Yeah I saw that - pain that you can't see how much it will actually cost. Those eBay prices look pretty good anyway.

I 'm tempted to pickup a cryo Harma preamp valve and a non Cryo one and AB them to see if I can hear a difference.

Might be an interesting experiment. Use the TT innit.

ie prices are without VAT and I don't even know the postage. I'm pretty sure shit like this is illegal. They could charge me whatever they want for postage now. They provide a unique service with the Cryo valves, it'll be interesting to see if it is worth it.

They still don't tell you P&P when your order has been confirmed? That is so fucking lame - you should have to declare the total billed amount before the card holder confirms the transaction - shady fuckers.

That said nice one and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts - is it possible you could make a sample of the too different valves with the same settings, pickups etc.?

Already in the works.

1) Standard TT valves
2) JJ in V1, Standard V2
3) DR250 in V1, JJ in V2
4) DR250 Cryo in V1, JJ V2
5) DR250 Cryo in V1 DR250 in V2

Get all this shit done before I do a huge clear out of gear at the end of the month. Pity I won't get it before Monday, cos I've got the day off.

It'll be interesting to know when I get to know postage. Haven't even had a confirmation email. If these guys weren't an established company it would feel well shady.

That's not a very good selection

Can we not have:

1) Standard TT Valves
2) JJ in V1, Standard V2
3) DR250 V1, Standard V2
4) DR250 Cryo V1, Standard V2
5) Standard V1, JJ V2
6) Standard V1, DR250 V2
7) Standard V1, DR250 Cryo V2

and then like double changes...
