Cheap Starcaster scam on CL

Beware if something looks too good to be true. Yet, for a Starcaster, I thought I should at least inquire. Now already this looks hinky because he says he knows it is rare, yet is asking for pennies. But who knows? Maybe the guy is flush. It's worth looking, because not everybody knows what a peach this is, and Fender has trashed the Starcaster name, so even fewer people will click on the ad.
Up for sale is a vintage 70’s era Fender Starcaster and original hard shell case (serial number 558209, dating from late 1974 to 1976). This semi-hollow body guitar has two pickups and controls for volume and tone for each as well as a Master volume. The finish is tobacco sunburst and the neck is maple with no bows or any signs of warping. As you can see from the photos this rare instrument is in exceptional shape with no belt buckle rash and only faint pressure cracks in the finish.

His phrasing is part of the problem. Who says "Friendly greetings"? He also volunteers to pay for shipping. Everything else is reasonable enough to suspend disbelief because we WANT to believe that guitar is waiting on the other end. Meanwhile people can put up $500 much more easily than they would $1000 for a guitar they haven't seen. Here's the nail in the coffin. He may as well be in Transylvania. The guy is a scammer. The pickups alone could get $500 a pop.

Hello, First of all , thank your for your quick reply,
I must tell you that now I'm in Romania with business but this is not a problem. We will use DHL shipping company to make this deal. You will receive it in maximum 4 days. The payment will be made by a method used by DHL.
They will contact us with all the instructionrs to proceed the deal. Shipping and handling will be paid by me.
If you agree to make the deal, i will contact them and they will contact you by email.

I've seen this scam before. They'll send you a fake invoice, with some bullshit numbers and ask to pay via Western Union.

Fuck them!

The thing is, I have stumbled onto a few really good deals that were legitimate. That guitar isn't even on my radar. I should have built one of those instead of the Strat-master.

The price is $2500 CND. See more pictures attached .Look, I 'm now in Birmingham UK, and will be moving here permanently soon, but I am using Express Transports services so I can sell the guitar from this far away. They have it in a storage place in Winnipeg since I left . They will take care of the shipping , paperwork, and everything else. Also, there's a return policy included. So if you want to buy it, please let me know and I will explain you how Express Transports works and how we can proceed. Please excuse me for my grammar use, I had a stroke six moths ago and I’m recovering.

The deal will be made through an eBay program which will protect both of us. If you are ready for the deal let me know your full name and shipping address and i'll start the deal with eBay.

Then I got a fake ebay looking email, that I believe could have fooled lots of peeps. :x

I love to get stroked by moths, their little friendly wings. Not like those damn dragonflies, the snobs.

I got a fake email from Paypal the other day, complete with logo and all, I nearly fucking fell for it too until I spotted the @yahoo email address hiding in the corner. It was telling me my account may be on hold, the funny thing was that my account was on hold not long ago and that's why I nearly clicked it :?

Fell for a scam mail once because I was actually in the process of paying for an item I had won, an e-mail arrives from "eBay" asking me to log in to confirm details, my radar was down and I clicked it ... as I realised the URL at the top was wrong, there were a few tense seconds as I logged into the REAL eBay and changed my passwords. Scary.

eBay don't seem to care a jot about scammers, I've contacted them several times about people with obviously bogus listings and got a stock response weeks later, meanwhile the auction finishes (and possibly some poor sap gets taken in).
