I just got the Univox from Bramblepro and the pups had been glued down. So now they are loose again. Does anyone know exactly how these are suppossed to be attached? They are the dog eared p90 type pups.

bridge pup looks like it's got a piece of cardboard or something under it. don't they just screw into the wood?

It did have cardboard.
Do you just use a long skinny screw and screw them down directly to the inside of the pup cavity? I was not sure because there looks like a couple holes around the pup routes like there might havebeen some sort of mounting piece and the screw in the pups are only maybe 1/2" to 3/4" long.

I don't know although they did come with black p90s or humbuckers apparently. I think I just need to find 4 really thin but long screws and screw them directly into the wood inside the pup cavity.

it looks like they originally had some sort of ring mounted pickups. as I understand it, in guitars designed for dogear P-90s, the "ears" should sit flush against the body of the guitar. there should be no cavity below them.
anyway, what I would do is put little piece of wood below the ears, either glue it in or screw it in from the side, and then screw the mounting screws into that.

cool. That should be easy enough.

should I shield the pup cavity.

don't the P-90s have a metal base? seems like shielding would be a bit redundant.

leo didn't think that shielding could be over done, just think about the 58 jazzy, metal guard, copper shield plates, everything was grounded to everything else about 6 different ways.

but there's no shielding on any fender pickups except on the tele and it doesn't have any shielding in the cavities.
