Finally getting back to the U series!

Dolphin-head with a humbucker - looks awesome and has period correct concentric knobs

Proper U2 (but with U1 controls). Looks like they got the coke-bottle headstock closer than previously.

also, Steve Dickrider hates gay peeps.

I love the look and love the concentric knobs but I cant stand guitars that are humbucker and single. It must be the autistic side of me coming out but guitars must have either two/three single coils or two humbuckers and never the twain shall meet.

Also, dont like that headstock really, I prefer side by side on those guitars.

I don't like hum/single either. It never balances right.

I think I'd check out the U2, though. If it's hum-cancelling in the middle and the finish isn't too thick, then maybe...

they all look pretty but aren't worth that price.

I LOVE THE RED/BLACK CRACKLE.

For homophobes, they sure offer some FABULOUS finishes.

i know, but that's still too much for the quality. i think they are fun guitars, but you can get better quality for the same price.

Seriously? They'll street for like $280. That's totally right for the quality. The 59DCs this past year were just as good as my original Dano.

You can get a better quality guitar for $280, but that guitar is not this guitar.

How can you trademark the term 'Lipstick' pickups. That's retarted.

Did Danelectro ever make a Dolphin-head under their own name or just the Silvertones?

Interesting that they've come back to the traditional bridge and concentric knobs, but I'm not a fan of the dolphin headstock and I think lipstick humbuckers look silly. Much as I opened this thread in fear (lest they reissue something really cool) fuck ever buying a new Dano again.

Good question. If they do exist, I don't think I've ever seen one. The dolphin-nose guitars were only made from the last half of 60 through 61, and by that time about 80% of Dano's guitars were branded for Sears. It would certainly be a rare bird!

I would never buy a new product from this company, I don't care what they release. Don't support bigotry.

I hope somebody challenges all those false trademarks dude is trying to get.

To be fair, Nat Daniels' Danelectro did invent the "lipstick tube" pickup.

From Nat Daniels' son, Howard (from NATHAN I. DANIEL, Danelectro Founder and SuperOutrigger Inventor):
In his autobiography, Joseph N. “Joe Fisher, Sears’ principal musical instrument buyer from 1959 to 1968, wrote that “Nat was an innovator who understood the principle of ‘rigid control of expense,’ an example of which was his innovative and inexpensive … magnetic pickups used in electric guitars. He made them from surplus [actually, they were not “surplus at all] lipstick tubes, bought from a cosmetics manufacturer. He inserted the electronics in the tubes and produced the lowest cost guitar pickup in the industry. Low-cost they may have been, but their innovative design makes them still highly sought-after by many guitarists today, who love their distinctive sound as well as their “cool appearance.
Love them or hate them, Evets does in fact own the rights to use the name in that context.

Quoted for truth, seriously.
