I'm looking to get that spaceman 3/spiritulized tremolo effect that they get from a vox repeat percussion or a boss PN-2 but I don't want to spend the money on a 2nd hand beat up PN-2 but wondered about an alternative. Does the Behringer clone do that staccato sound as the Boss does? Is there anything else that can do it? Someone in a shop recommended the MXR tremolo and I tried the Boss TR-2 but no joy there. any ideas?

Benecol had a 'Hummingbird' pedal that did the Vox thing. He should be able to point you in the right direction ;)

I was looking at the hummingbird and it looks decent. I might speak to Benecol then

I've had two Hummingbirds, and they were both cracking. It's a Vox Repeat Percussion circuit - I'm sure Mike could knock you one up. Someone timhulio knows (I've lost the link, but I'm sure he'll chime in too) makes a silicon fuzzface and repeat percussion in one box which sounded lovely.

This guy does one for $130

Although his anti graphics diatribe is a bit lame.

thanks for the tips guys, it seems that those pedals are about the same cost as an old PN-2. Time to see what to stick in the classifieds then I think

I didn't vouch for him or nothing.

$130 = £80.

To be honest even though it's a simple circuit, it would be a new one on me and from what I've read you need to hunt and match the transistors or tweak the circuit - so I would be charging about that much for a Custom one-off also.

Lovely as the Ronsound kit it, pay the extra $15 and buy from Jamie at Earthquaker - he's ace. Link

To throw another name into the ring, Christian at Magnetic Effects http://magneticeffects.net/ does great things with the Repeat Percussion circuit, including combining it with switchable fuzz. The neatness and build quality of his effects are something to behold. Also the enclosures are powdercoated black for classiness!

He's also selling schematics. That in itself isn't so terrible but I'd be willing to bet that they were mostly acquired for free.

There was a guy in the UK selling Repeat Percussion clones on eBay for about £60 a while ago.

Yeah, here's a link.

the boss PN-2 is a stereo panning tremolo like you got on suitcase rhodes pianos. i haven't seen any current pedal that emulates it (i haven't really been looking, right enough).

The PN-2 was also a major part of Dean Garcia's sound in Curve. True fact Pop Pickers.
