Renovating my old strat - resizing neck/nut width + refret

Okay this is going to be a long time project for when I have money. Essentially my stat is in a right state. The finish on both neck and body has been peeling of for a couple of years now and it's been in parts for that time. The frets really need replacing after some 17-18 years of use. The nut needs changing. So basically a whole overhaul. Now I know it's a lot of work but htis was my first 'proper' guitar and it has always sounded great and played brilliantly so I'm not going to dump it.
I'm considering refinishing the body, and although most folks here don't like flamed or photoflame finishes this one looks cool in real life because it is dark and subtle. Photographs unfortunately shhow up th flame way more than to the naked eye and make it look garish. One idea is to get it capped back and front with 'real' flame and recreate the look, another is just leave it as is with all the damage.
Firstly though After all this time my small hands really apreciate small width necks - even fender neck heel widths are too much for me but at least A-width nuts help. This neck is a good 43mm wide at the nut so i want to rip out the frets, figureout how to bring the neck to an a-width and then refret with tall frets.
How the fucking fuck do I do it?? With the right set up I guess it could be done in less than half hour of sanding, but obviously needs to be accurate and straight. Suggestions?
Pics of the current state of it coming shortly...
