I saw this used on Guitar Center for cheap and had to grab it. It is in pretty good shape. The reverb doesn't seem to work. I haven't fiddled with the tank, but it isn't a big deal. If I need a new tank, those are pretty cheap.

After reading that Greenwood used these amps I've been intrigued by them. Shame I'm a typical tube amp snob.

Cool vid.

Thanks! I like the idea of using tube for clean and switching to solid state for distortion. I got an LS-2 I will play with when I get the time.

This thing is 200 watts. No wonder it can keep up with a Twin. LOL

Isn't that the opposite of everything I've ever come to know?

Just what I was about to say!

I believe that's the received wisdom.

Pretty much. But it's whatever your ears agree with. If someone disagrees, fuck em.

yeah, some folks like dimebag dig solid state drive/distortion to tube. you do get a different waveform from it, and the breakup is much more. . . cohesive. i've never put much thought into the tube clean sound, not consciously anyway, and certainly not from a standpoint of pairing it with a ss drive. still, there is that sag.

Regarding the amp itself, the other guitarist in my band has one of these. When it worked, it sounded amazing and was super loud. Unfortunately it stopped working :( he's had it fixed a few times but each time it seems to crap out after another week or two.

The input power is 200W. Output power is rated at 85W.

You can't even imagine the arguments I've had with local sellers trying to sell a "50 watt" amp that's actually a 15 watt amp.

Oh yes. Our singer said he'd bring his 15W amp to a jam - it was 5W.

Nope. I can pick it up with one arm pretty easily. Not super light, but not bad at all.

Good to know. I wondered why it was called an Eighty-Five when it said 200 watts on the back. LOL

I did in the youtube demo. :) The settings recommended for the Radiohead sound much more trebly. I need to try it with my Jag-Stang. It has a Red Red dual humbucker. Maybe my WRHB was too bright.
